Would that little-bitty tip still work for opening packages and scoring tomatoes? Maybe that's why they left that feature in... But I totally agree about the messed-up mindset required to decide to buy these things! Seems to be a product aimed squarely at the paranoid...

Problem is: the tip of a chef's knife is used for things.

For example, I use it all the time for opening packages, and scoring tomatoes to then be cut, in that their skin makes them tough to slice with a standard chef's knife.

So it only makes sense if you're willing to forego that utility to avoid any potential stabbings.

But what does it say if you buy them? You're either worried about people you live with stabbing you, you stabbing people you live with, or someone else using them against you...
